What a rad day. Do people still say "rad"?... If not, they should. It seems to be the only word that adequately describes Mike and Katie's wedding.
There were a number of things that made the day special for me - unique vendors, fun locations, incredibly relaxed atmosphere - but the most significant was that I witnessed an old friend marry a really fantastic guy. You see, Katie and I went to high school together. We were in classes together from grade 8-12 (mostly choir!) and she was always such fun to be around. As life goes, we lost touch after high school until 9 1/2 years later when I heard about a) her life in Regina b) how she was now a homeowner c) how she met a wonderful guy at her sister's wedding 4 years previous, d) how she was going to MARRY HIM! and e) that she was wondering whether I might be the photographer. It was an easy "yes" for me!
So, on July 31st, Mike and Katie got all spiffied up and vowed to spend their lives together in front of friends and family at Queen Elizabeth Park. Then they had a grand ol' time celebrating down on Granville Island at the False Creek Community Centre.
Altogether a lovely day.
Congratulations, Mike and Katie! I wish you a lifetime of happiness!
